How billing works
Insurance questions often get complicated once a visit involves a specific part of the body rather than general orthopedic care. Jeff Cole, MD treats hand, wrist, and elbow conditions at OrthoSouth in Memphis, Tennessee, and his training lines up with that focus: he completed fellowship training in surgery of the hand and upper extremity at Washington University's Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri. A few of the treatments he provides, including endoscopic carpal tunnel release (a minimally invasive procedure to relieve pressure on the nerve in the wrist) and the TENEX procedure for epicondylitis (a treatment for chronic tendon pain at the elbow), sometimes require prior authorization from an insurance plan before they can be scheduled. The OrthoSouth billing team checks your benefits and handles authorization paperwork so you know what to expect ahead of your appointment. Dr. Cole is accepting new patients, and the office can confirm your coverage before your first visit. This information is educational, not medical advice; your insurance plan's specific terms determine your coverage and costs.
